Delphine Kassem
Delphine Kassem was born in Evian-les-Bains, France.  Born in 1971, Delphine’s passion for arts and circus began as an artist playing Diabolo in the streets of France.

Since 1992, Delphine has been inspired and actively involved in promoting Khmer performing arts. Initiatives have included positioning as director of an art gallery “L’Atelier Khmer” and teaching Diabolo in the circus department of the Phnom Penh Royal University of Fine Arts.

In 1993, Delphine worked as a volunteer for the “Magic Circus” café-theater, and soon after, became founder and director of the Sovanna Phum Association, in which her dream was to create a space where artist graduates could have the opportunity and space to perform.

It is much to her dedication and hard work that Sovanna Phum exists as it does today.

Mann Kosal

President and Artistic Director

Mann Kosal
Mann Kosal
Mann Kosal is a native of Takeo province, Cambodia.  Born in 1961, Kosal began his artistic studies in 1984 as a student of Bassac Theater at Phnom Penh’s Royal University of Fine Arts.  From 1991-1997, Kosal concentrated on Shadow Puppet Theater in the Department of performing arts of the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.

His enthusiasm for shadow puppets has led Kosal in the revival and preservation of traditional repertory, and authentic Khmer production and technical performance that was nearly lost in the Khmer Rouge regime.

In 2000, Kosal became Artistic Director of Sovanna Phum.

In addition to being a puppetry master, Kosal is well versed in music and singing, and for many of his productions, fills the role of writer, director and choreographer.  His most recent contemporary production of “Roussey Dek”, a multi-disciplined performance project was presented at the London International Festival of Theater (LIFT) Festival in June 2003.
